Clinging To The Pole Of My Carousel Pony
By Nathan Shaw | June 2007 | www.survival2020.com
Around and around I go, my head in a spin.
I look into the crowd. I'm afraid to be part of reality.
The clowns all around me, I know they're fake.
Their true colours hidden by painted smiles, and fat kids and adults, stuffing their face.
Distracted by entertainment; Hollywood blockbusters, and MTV.
Clinging to the pole of my carousel pony
Im clining to the imaginary dream of excitement and bounty.
Trying to hide from my self that my life is just fantasy.
The reality is that I'm bored. My carousel goes round and round, but I've outgrown such things.
But what it brings is security, the engineers and architects of this plastic carousel, put everything in motion and I'm just a cog in the wheel, of their system, the system, of government and hell.
As I cling to the pole of my carousel pony,
must I wait till it stops or can I escape…
perhaps there is something more alive and more real?
Like a child I am treated by the powers that be.
How can I be rid of them…
How can I be free?
I see in the crowd, the next line of carousel riders.
What possibly can I say to make them see?
That even though my mask carries a smile of glee…
I cling here to my carousel pony, trapped as can be.
And it is they that are Free.
